The CSTO countries have prepared a draft agreement on cooperation in combating illegal migration, CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov said at the international conference in Minsk to discuss regional cooperation in combating illegal migration, BelTA has learned. According to Valery Semerikov, the system of combating illegal migration in the CSTO is improving every year. However, at the same time, organized crime groups are improving the forms and methods of illegal migration and developing new channels. “We see further improvement in the effectiveness of our activities through the prism of improving the legislative framework in the area of migration at the national level, as well as the adoption of a fundamental normative legal act in the CSTO format - an agreement on cooperation in combating illegal migration. This draft agreement has been prepared and almost agreed, and we intend to submit it for consideration to our statutory bodies and the Collective Security Council in 2025,” the CSTO deputy secretary general said. He also stressed that the overall problem of illegal migration should be solved through consolidated efforts involving the potential of all international and regional organizations.
