“Presence-Aware TV” To Be Showcased At Mobile World Congress Barcelona
Truesense, Symera, Sofia Digital, and SMiT have announced the debut of a next generation TV interaction platform powered by Ultra-Wideband (UWB) sensing and Web3 wallet technology built on Hedera distributed ledger infrastructure within the Hashgraph ecosystem. The new solution will be showcased at Mobile World Congress Barcelona starting March 2.
The new platform enables TVs to securely detect the presence of multiple users in front of the screen through UWB precision sensing. When a viewer is physically present, their smartphone becomes an automatic companion device — enabling interaction, gamification, loyalty rewards, and secure Web3 mobile wallet transactions.
This breakthrough creates a Presence-Aware TV ecosystem, where:
- The TV knows who is watching whilst maintaining GDPR compliance
- Multiple audience members can interact with a single TV for increased social experiences
- Advertising value is boosted through interactive and measurable audience engagement
- Real-time interaction with linear TV provides new monetization options for Free to Air content
- New opportunities boost PPV content and interactions
- Configurable gamification and consumer incentives activated in real time through pre-integrated wallet and Web3.0 infrastructure
- Account sharing fraud is reduced through proximity verification
Leveraging the global mobile ecosystem across billions of Apple and Android smartphones, with UWB increasingly integrated into flagship models, the USB TV Dongle enables proximity-aware services on both legacy and smart TVs, enhancing operators’ competitiveness. Upon insertion of the USB Key, the operator application (OpApp) is automatically deployed on the TV, enabling the full broadcaster experience, including content access, interactivity, gamification and wallet services, directly on the screen, without requiring a dedicated and expensive external set-top box.
The solution will be demonstrated live at MWC Barcelona, Italian Pavilion (ITA), Hall 7 – stand #7D71 (booth #15), from March 2, 2026.
