Review: Everblog E1 Calendar

Growing up, our kitchen was home to a large paper wall calendar affectionately called “Mom’s Brain”. It helped keep us organized and informed, and it quickly filled up with activities and appointments, which often overflowed into the margins, drawing a frustrated sigh from mom as she longed for a better way to keep track of our busy lives. I can only imagine how much easier our lives would have been if we had a device like the Everblog E1 Calendar.

The idea behind the Everblog E1 Calendar is easy to understand because the problem it’s trying to solve is familiar. Family schedules rarely live in one place. School events sit in one app, work meetings in another, chores on a scrap of paper, meal planning somewhere between memory and habit. The E1 positions itself as a single, shared screen that pulls those fragments together.

Features

At its core, the E1 is a 21.5-inch digital family calendar with a full HD touchscreen, built-in apps, and smart features designed to keep everyone in a household on the same page. Design-wise, the E1 is visually simple: think of it as a large tablet without a kickstand. The screen is bright, responsive, and easy to read from across most rooms – a big advantage over smaller wall calendars or phone screens. Height and weight are modest for its size (about 13.7 pounds with a 1080p display).

The included hanging strap and optional mounting hardware let you set it vertically or horizontally, depending on where it fits best in your home. That flexibility matters; a screen this size can be useful in a kitchen, living room, entryway or home office.

Yet there’s a trade-off: the design is decidedly utilitarian. You won’t find premium materials like metal or glass, as it’s largely plastic, and it needs a nearby outlet to stay plugged in all the time. That’s fine for a permanent home hub, but less elegant than a standalone smart display from Apple or Google.

The calendar view is clear and color-coded by family members, which makes overlapping schedules easier to understand at a glance. This is especially useful in households where multiple people have recurring commitments that tend to blur together over time. Additionally, the Everblog E1 Calendar syncs with major calendar services, including Google Calendar, Outlook, and iCal, supports shared family profiles, and layers in task management, meal planning, photo display, and light entertainment features.

Chore management is one of the E1’s more practical features. Tasks can be assigned to individuals and checked off directly on the screen. For families with younger kids, the built-in rewards system adds just enough structure to make chores feel less abstract, without turning the experience into a full gamification platform.

Meal planning is similarly straightforward, although we found the E1 worked best as a visibility tool rather than a planning engine, more of a place to confirm what’s happening rather than decide what to cook. Meals can be scheduled alongside calendar events, and grocery lists stay visible throughout the week. This isn’t revolutionary, but having meals displayed next to time commitments can subtly change how families plan their evenings.

The chore and rewards system is genuinely useful for families with kids. Instead of a list stuck on the fridge, chores appear as interactive items on the screen: tick them off, earn stars, and tie those stars to rewards. It’s gamification in a simple, accessible way.

While it is often on sale, price is a consideration with the Everblog E1 Calendar. At its regular price (often around $699 but discounted in some places), it’s a premium tool, particularly when alternatives like a wall-mounted tablet with a shared app can cost less. But the no-subscription model and family-centric design soften that wallet sting.

When idle, the E1 doubles as a digital photo frame, cycling through family photos and videos. This feature feels more meaningful than expected — not because it’s technically impressive, but because it reinforces the E1’s role as a shared household object rather than a utilitarian screen.

Our Testing Experience

TWICE had the opportunity to test out the Everblog E1 Calendar, and we found it easy to set up and connect to our network. The unit is somewhat heavy, but fortunately, the included hardware helped us confidently secure it to the wall.

We especially enjoyed the gathered functions of the Everblog E1 – everything has its own app these days, and having all the information in one place made scheduling things much easier. That being said, getting everything imported, created, and set up on the E1 was a chore in itself. Be aware that it will take some dedicated time to get things rolling, but once you have your major lists and chores set up, having the reminders and schedules at your fingertips did help us function more smoothly at home.

We found Google Calendar syncing reliable, and the E1 updated quickly when events were added or changed. Apple Calendar syncing worked, but often took a little longer to reflect edits made directly on the E1. In practice, we found it best to treat the E1 as a display and planning surface rather than the primary place to create or edit events, and did most of that in the Everblog app.

The E1 remained stable during our testing with no crashes, though occasional syncing delays were noticeable with the Apple Calendar. Updates appeared to roll out quietly in the background.

The touchscreen was responsive and accurate, even when mounted vertically. Navigation is intuitive after a short learning curve, though some menus can feel deeper than necessary. Ourlder users adapted quickly; while younger users treated it like a large tablet almost immediately and enjoyed the reward and recognition features. Instead of a list stuck on the fridge, chores appear as interactive items on the screen: tick them off, earn stars, and tie those stars to rewards. It’s gamification in a simple, accessible way.

Chore tracking worked well and became one of the most frequently used features during our testing. Tasks were easier to remember when visible all day, and completion rates improved simply because reminders weren’t hidden inside a phone app.

The ability to use apps to watch videos or follow recipes while cooking added flexibility, though we found this to be more of a convenience than a core feature overall. Voice input exists and works for basic tasks, but we found it’s not robust enough to replace touch input at this point.

Verdict

The Everblog E1 Calendar succeeds most when it’s treated as a shared awareness surface, not a productivity app replacement. While it won’t magically fix disorganized households, families who want a single, neutral, shared place where life is visible rather than buried in individual phones will find the E1 genuinely useful.

Its value comes from visibility, and it’s one of the more thoughtful attempts to make digital calendars genuinely useful in family life. The Everblog E1 Calendar succeeds best when it’s used as a shared home hub, a central place where schedules, chores, and meals live together, rather than just a replacement for a paper planner.

If your household, or even your office, struggles with overlapping appointments, forgotten tasks, and scattered lists, the E1 is a compelling choice to become your version of “Mom’s Brain” and reduce mental load and increase visibility in a way phones and apps rarely do.
