Young Weldina Douthitt was ready. She had her ‘Jackson for president’ poster in hand and a corresponding campaign button proudly pinned to her coat. Her father, Weldon Douthitt, had brought her to Toledo Express Airport to welcome presidential candidate The Rev. Jesse Jackson to Toledo the night before the primary election.
