A recent Blade editorial Nov. 16 argued that Ohio’s development strategy is “incomplete.” I respect the concerns raised, and I welcome scrutiny of how we build a stronger future for every region. Economic development will never truly be complete; at its best, it is a continuous improvement process that fosters team building and mo-mentum. But the portrayal of Ohio — and northwest Ohio in particular — as stagnant relies on outdated projections rather than the reality unfolding on the ground. As with all things in life, what we focus on expands. And this holiday season, we can be thankful for our past, because we can choose to learn from it and focus on what is possible.
