■ Howard On The Hunt: National champion archer Sophia Howard of Sylvania put her extensive skills with the bow to work in the field recently, and harvested a doe on a Williams County hunt with guide Matt Cleland. Howard took a whitetail with a crossbow last season, and this most recent deer came with a compound bow. On New Year’s Day, Howard shot the doe at about 20 yards, then tracked the animal, field dressed it, then brought it out of the woods. This champion target shooter is also a successful hunter.
