Delta Comfort is Delta's upgraded economy class, offering a seat with more legroom.
Other perks, like early boarding and reserved overhead bin space, made the upgrade worth it.
With surprisingly comfy seats and stellar seatback entertainment systems, Delta has given me my best experiences in basic economy for years. So I wasn't expecting its upgraded economy-class offering to be worth over $100 more on a flight from Fort Myers, Florida, to New York City in October 2025.
This was my first time sampling Delta Comfort, the elevated economy booking with extra legroom. To my surprise, it was worth the upgrade, and the seat wasn't even the best part.
I flew from Fort Myers, Florida, to NYC in Delta Comfort for $260.

I booked my 2-hour, 45-minute flight 10 days before my trip. A basic economy ticket would have cost $150.
The perks of Delta Comfort include early boarding, a more cushioned seat with extra legroom, reserved overhead bin space, and more miles per dollar spent than in basic economy.
As a basic economy regular, I'm used to being among the last to board a flight. It was a nice change to be in boarding zone 3 because I was able to get on the plane right after the first-class passengers.
Once on the plane, I tossed my suitcase in the overhead bin space reserved for Delta Comfort passengers.

One of the biggest perks of the upgraded class was having reserved overhead bin space. As a regular basic economy traveler, I often have to check my carry-on at the gate because the aircraft fills up before it's my turn to board.
Ensuring I'd be able to exit with my suitcase and head straight out of the airport without a stop at baggage claim felt like a luxury to me.
The Delta Comfort seat was slightly cozier than basic economy seats.

Delta Comfort seats on the Boeing 737-800 are the same size as basic economy seats. I thought the seats were slightly more comfortable than the standard economy Delta seats I've booked in the past, and I appreciated having two more inches of legroom with a 34-inch seat pitch.
With a seatback entertainment screen and an otherwise empty row of seats, I kicked back and watched a movie.

My seatback entertainment system had a wide variety of movies and TV shows, as well as access to YouTube Music and live TV.
Since my flight was relatively short, I appreciated the search filter for movies under two hours. I stretched out in my open row of seats and watched "17 Again" as the sun went down.
A built-in perk I hadn't even considered for my Delta Comfort flight was being among the first to deplane upon arrival in NYC.

Since I was seated toward the front of the plane, I waited less than five minutes to exit after we landed. This final perk was my favorite and sealed the deal for me — Delta Comfort was totally worth the added price.
I'll certainly book the upgraded economy class for future flights.
