The BAU is back, and the team is facing one of their most dangerous cases to date in the latest season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. Keep reading to learn all about the new season, including where to watch Criminal Minds: Evolution online.
Criminal Minds: Evolution is at once a continuation of the original Criminal Minds series and a new offshoot (the latest season is billed as both Season 2 and Season 17, depending on where you look). The original series wrapped its 15-season run on CBS in 2020, but the show was revived as an even grittier, streaming-only version on Paramount+ in 2022. With the exception of Matthew Gray-Gubler, most of the original cast — including Paget Brewster, Joe Mantegna, AJ Cook, Aisha Tyler, Kirsten Vangsness, and Adam Rodriguez — returned to the show.
The main difference between the original series and its latest iteration (other than the word "Evolution") is that the seasons are only 10 episodes long, tend to focus on one antagonist rather than a new case each week, and the characters can finally swear. Like the original, Criminal Minds: Evolution follows the members of the FBI's Behavior Analysis Unit (BAU), who are tasked with profiling and hunting down some of the nation's most disturbing criminals. Zach Gilford joined the cast as a serial killer last season and will return again in the new season.

Paramount+ released the official trailer for the new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution in May. In the video, the BAU team hunts down a new killer who they theorize was trained by the government. The trailer flashes between the killer's actions and the team's attempt to hunt them down. It looks like the team must go so far as to get guidance from Gilford's Elias Voit.
