WE are all looking for ways to keep condensation in our homes at bay, especially at this time of year.
But not many people can afford to splash out on an electric dehumidifier, which can easily set you back £200.
People are raving about these dehumidifier pouches to help keep condensation at bay[/caption] They also come with a sticky pad which allows them to be affixed anywhere[/caption] Condensation can lead to mould, which can be really dangerous[/caption]And while the dehumidifier traps are an effective option, they aren’t very eco-friendly, and only work for a short amount of time.
So it’s no wonder people are raving about a new dehumidifier, which costs just £14.95 and is reusable.
As an added bonus, you can use them in both your house and your car.
People have been taking to TikTok to rave about the dehumidifying pouches, which feature a dot on the front to tell you when they need ‘charging’ and contain a whopping 1kg of silica beads to soak up moisture.
“If you’ve got any damp bits and condensation, these are great for the car, or for your home,” one man said in his video.
“Why these are fantastic is that when they’re fully charged and ready to go, it’s showing blue.
“When you need to change it, you bring it indoors.”
When the dot changes from blue to pink, you can bring it inside and pop it in the microwave to dry it out, or put on the top of a radiator.
“They’re a brilliant idea,” he said.
“Saves you buying the disposable ones all the time!
“Great for a multiple of uses – could be your windscreens in your house, your car, anything that gets a little bit damp and steamed up.”
He added that his mum has an old Corsa, and keeps a couple of the pouches inside to keep it dry.
And people offered their own positive reviews on a similar pouch on Amazon.
“They actually work very well and it is very easy to see when they need to be microwaved dry – a really good purchase,” one wrote.
“I bought this dehumidifier to prevent condensation in our room where we dry our laundry during the winter and to prevent damp odour,” another added.
“It has been an excellent buy and value for money.
Condensation is water droplets that form on a window when moist air comes into contact with a cold surface.
Condensation occurs when:
Air cools
Warmer air can hold more moisture than cooler air. When moist air touches a cold surface, like a window, the water vapour in the air turns into liquid water droplets.
Windows are colder than walls
Windows are often colder than insulated walls, so condensation is more likely to occur on them.
Windows are poorly insulated
Poorly insulated windows can lead to condensation, especially if they are made of aluminium, which conducts heat quickly. If left untreated, it can lead to mould and other serious problems.
“No running costs, just dried out in the microwave when full of moisture.
“I plan to get another for my car now I know they do work.”
“Much better option than carrying on with my old practice of using old socks filled with cat-litter to absorb moisture,” another said.
“The cat litter method isn’t always so efficient and can end up being messy when the contents need to be disposed of, whereas this bag can just be easily heat-dried in a microwave from time to time.
“Then just store it in a wardrobe in the warmer months to put it to use in there too.”
While others have had similar success with the pouches in their cars too.
“I can honestly say that the moisture in my car has significantly reduced since using it,” one wrote.
“I’ve dried it out a few times now and it’s still working. I leave it on my dashboard overnight and the screen is dry in the morning.
“My car has always been dreadful in the mornings, usually needing the blowers on for ten minutes before I can go anywhere but not anymore.
“Very happy and would recommend this.”
“Absolutely marvellous, does just what it says, removes moisture from the car and leaves internal glass surfaces clear of condensation,” another added.
“Just ordered two more for the other car.”
“Since leaving these in the car and on the dash over night I’ve seen a reduction in condensation in the mornings, and less ice when really cold,” a third commented.
And it also helps keep condensation at bay in the car too[/caption]
