IT’S hard to think of a smash-hit hair styling tool that’s taken the world by storm quite like the Dyson Airwrap.
Ever since its launch in 2018, fans of silky sleek styles and big, bouncy blow dries alike have sang its praise.
The it-girl styling tool has gained a cult status online through it’s promise to ‘effectively style hair with no heat damage’.
But ‘the most awarded hair multi-styler’ is on the pricey side, scanning at most retailers for around £450.
That’s why so many of us keep our eyes out for pocket-friendlier dupes.
But if you’re dead set on the real thing, one thrifty TikTokker has got a secret trick to get it for less – and she’s shared her clever hack with the internet.
Savvy shopper Charlie (@charlie_louise_cc) posted a clip to the online video platform, titled ‘I got a brand new Dyson Airwrap for £200! I’ve not opened the box yet so come back for part 2. This is usually £400 to £500′.
Charlie’s video shows her point of view as she queues at her local shop to collect her parcel.
The video then shows the parcel being carried home by a very happy bargain-hunter.
Text overlaying the clip reads: “POV – I was always taught not to buy secondhand electricals but I found the perfect hack to get the Dyson Airwrap for £200 and brand new.
“I just typed ‘unwanted Christmas presents’ into Vinted and made a cheeky offer.
“Also, I am doing low spend January but technically bought this on Christmas day so it doesn’t count.”
Clever Charlie had hopped onto the Vinted app on Christmas day to make the most of the nation’s unwanted Christmas gifts.
She’d managed to nab a brand new Dyson Airwrap for just £200 – saving a whopping £250 in the process.
Although she had initially been concerned about buying electrical good that wasn’t direct from the retailer, viewers in the comments seemed to agree it was safe.
One user wrote: “Electrical devices with no storage and memory are generally safe, I would advise against phones, laptops and tablets.. you don’t really know what you’re getting and what’s on it.”
Another viewer had success with the tactic themselves: “I did the same, £240! Brand new, never been opened!”
Vinted is an online marketplace where you can buy, sell or swap pre-owned goods.
Sellers can list items for free – all you need to do is take a quick snap of the product, write a short description and include an asking price before hitting upload and making the listing live.
Then just sit back and wait for a buyer before boxing up the item and shipping with a prepaid label.
Buyers, on the other hand, can browse millions of pre-loved items, ask sellers questions and snap up a quick bargain at the touch of a button.
The platform is available online or via the Vinted app.
There are plenty of affordable alternatives to shop instead of the Dyson Airwrap from various retailers.
Amazon is a great shopping destination to head to, as it has a variety of brands stocked online, which means even more choice, and affordable dupes too.
