Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo, Kate Winslet, Tilda Swinton, Gary Oldman, Ewan McGregor and Jack Lowden also missed out.
The day was saved by Baby Reindeer which won Best Limited TV series, accepted by creator Richard Gadd who lost to Colin Farrell in the category for best performance by a male actor in a limited or anthology series or TV film.
His British co-star Jessica Gunning won best female supporting actress in the television category for the dark comedy inspired by the creator’s claims of being stalked and sexually assaulted.
The 38-year-old said in her acceptance speech: “Thank you to Richard Gadd, Baby Reindeer has changed my life in ways that I can’t even explain.
“I know the eight-year-old me would be chuffed to bits.”
