FANS of the Masked Singer are certain they’ve already rumbled who Spag Bol really is.
The first episode of the sixth series of the wacky guessing game aired on ITV last night, with a host of celebrities on hand to decipher the ‘masked’ singers’ identities.
And in a plot twist for the new season, the celeb panel, which included Jonathan Ross, Mo Gillian, Maya Jama, Davina McCall and special guest Sir Mo Farah, were asked to to choose the running order for the night.
Teeth, Snail, Tattoo, Kingfisher, Spaghetti Bolognese and Dressed Crab were all chosen to perform during the first show.
And in a literal spaghetti twist, viewers think they already know who Spag Bol is.
After being chosen by special guest Sir Mo Farrah, Spag Bol took to the stage to sing Geri Halliwell’s hit Look at Me.
Before they began, a VT offered the celebrity panel and guests some clues about their true identity.
During Spag Bol’s hints, Davina said: “Not really Italian, right?” with Sir Mo agreeing: “Putting an accent on.”
The character then said: “I haven’t always been known as Spag Bol, it has been shortened”, with Maya questioning: “Maybe they’ve got a nickname”.
The singer, whose costume had a head and skirt shaped like spaghetti noodles, a fork at the top, and a bolognese bodysuit for the rest of the body, then said: “This dish is enjoyed around the world,” leaving Maya wondering; “Maybe world famous”.
Later on in the VT, two tennis rackets were seen laid on a table alongside five tennis balls with 06:00 printed on them.
The character then mentioned: “hopelessly devoted” which Jonathan Ross pointed out is from the movie Grease.
After Spag Bol’s performance, host Joel Dommett asked the celeb panel who they believed to be behind the mask.
Jonathan said Anika Rice, Sir Mo suggested tennis player Emma Raducanu while Davina said Julia Bradbury.
Maya then guessed Judy Murray, the mother of tennis player Andy Murray.
Spag Bol then shared a riddle with the panel and audience: “Spag Bol is delicious it has to be said, but spilled on the floor it can stain it quite red.”
The clue then left Mo wondering if the comedian Ruby Wax was in the costume.
Fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, after the performance with some convinced it was Kate Garraway, and others believing, as Davina had suggested iit was Julia Bradbury.
However many believed it was a TV chef with one saying: “Spag Bol is definitely Nigella.” Another agreed saying: “Nigella Lawson?”
After the show Spag Bol and Teeth found themselves in the bottom two, with judges choosing to save Teeth and sending home Spag Bol.
The star behind the mask was then almost revealed before Joel announced to fans they would have to wait until Sunday night to find out their true identity.
Fans were left fuming by the unmasking cliffhanger and took to social media to slam both the host and ITV.
One viewer said: “Nope. Not having that. What’s the point of making us wait? Kinda kills the whole point of the show.”
Another said: “I’m being forced to wait a day just to see a spag bol be unmasked.”
