MAYA Jama has put paid to any suggestion of another reunion with Stormzy – and revealed why they won’t rekindle their romance.
Maya, 30, split for a second time with the rapper last summer but she has ruled out getting back together with him again.
The Love Island star, who tonight makes her debut on The Masked Singer, has been secretly dating footballer Ruben Dias for a month.
But Maya’s new love interest isn’t the sole reason she doesn’t see a future with Stormzy – real name Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr.
In a new interview with The Guardian, Maya said her most recent romance was “Michael part two”.
She added. “Stormzy part two.”
When asked if there will ever be a ‘part three’, Maya told the publication: “No, I think we’re happy in this friendship zone.”
The interview was published just hours after Maya and Ruben appeared to confirm their new romance.
The pair were spotted for the first time together in public on New Year’s Eve, when they shared a romantic dinner in Ibiza.
Ruben has now posted a photo of himself and Maya on social media, which was taken on the beach while on holiday.
Watching the sunset, Ruben could be seen wearing a hoody and trousers while wrapping his arm around a dark-haired female, who was dressed in a camouflaged skirt and trainers.
Maya is believed to have met Ruben in September 2024 at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
She stunned at the Manchester-based event in a black ‘safety pin’ gown – similar to the one made famous by Elizabeth Hurley in 1994.
In her chat with The Guardian, Maya touched on why she believed fans were so sad to hear she had split with Stormzy last summer.
They were first together from 2014 to 2019, before getting back together in August 2023. But Maya and Stormzy called it quits for a final time last July 2024.
Maya explained: “I think it’s nice that people love him for being cute and love me for being cute, and when two people you like come together then people get excited by it.
“That’s just what happens in the celebrity world, don’t you think?”
Although she has only been dating Portuguese player Ruben for a short few weeks, Maya’s relationship with him could go all the way.
Earlier this week, she also told the Evening Standard: “Thirty is a milestone.
“I am so happy right now but the next person I meet I want to marry and have kids with, so obviously I’m feeling fussy.
“I’ve created such a nice life for myself alone and I don’t want anyone who’s not going to add to that.”
