DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER a minor argument, a girl I really like has stopped replying to my texts.
I am 19 and she is 18.
We met through a mutual friend a month ago and I thought everything was going well.
But we had a minor argument about where we were going to meet up for a night out and she just stormed off.
She says it has come between us.
I thought she was going to stop seeing me, but we carried on messaging each other every day for a couple of weeks.
Now, out of the blue, she has stopped responding to any of my texts.
She used to reply within minutes.
I know she still reads them, so I don’t know what is going on.
I really like this girl and thought we would become exclusive soon.
I am unsure whether to text her or not. What should I do?
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: Feelings can be very intense during our teens, but you and this girl haven’t spent a lot of time together face-to-face.
It may be best to accept she is cooling – and perhaps her life has changed in some way.
Build up contact with other friends so you are not so reliant on her.
If you stop pursuing her, she might actually become more interested in you – but there again, she might not.
My support pack, Learning About Relationships, explains more about the stages everyone goes through as they mature.
Every problem gets a personal reply from one of our trained counsellors.
Fill out and submit our easy-to-use and confidential form and the Dear Deidre team will get back to you.
