PEOPLE often reflect on the previous 12 months every New Year’s Eve and for one woman, most of her 2024 is worth forgetting.
The newly wed reflected on how this year has been “the worst year” of her life.
In her viral video, TikTok user Alexa Fay (@alexafayy) gave a recap of her unfortunate experiences throughout the calendar year.
She joked that it should’ve been the best year of her life given her nuptials in July, however, a series of events leading up to the wedding and afterwards made her keen to leave 2024 in the past.
Alexa recalled how a fall down a flight of stairs in January left her engagement ring damaged.
While the metal was dented, some of the diamonds lifted right out of the band and were lost.
Two months later, the mum-of-one fell down more steps, this time breaking her foot.
She also lost her dad that month and was unable to say goodbye due to her injury.
Her family decided to arrange her dad’s celebration of life for the day before her bridal shower.
While she was not keen on the close proximity of the events, Alexa agreed only to suffer what appeared to be an allergic reaction the night before her shower.
She was still able to attend the festivities but was admitted into hospital for days afterwards.
The steroids that she was given led the bride-to-be to put on five pounds in the lead up to her wedding.
To make matters even worse, the storage unit where she had stored all of her decor and wedding day documents caught on fire the day before she was due to vacate it.
Despite this, she was able to pull her big day together on short notice.
However, Alexa’s health struggles weren’t over after she tied the knot and the remainder of her year included a lot of hospital visits.
In December, she finally discovered that a tapeworm had been the cause of her issues.
The TikToker said she was glad to be getting her life back on track and was looking forward to happier times.
