He recalled when the producer came down the stairs “ashen-faced”, declaring that she had found a “dead body in the bed.”
But as they stood around wondering what to do the “dead body’ started snoring.
Martin told MailOnline: “We went to this one house, which had clearly been lived in until very recently. Almost like the kettle was still hot kind of thing and we went in and then the director went and had a look around.
“And she came out absolutely ashen in the face. And she said, ”there is a dead body! There’s a dead body in the bed”.
“And we were like, ”well, that’s a first, we didn’t see that on the risk assessment”.
“He said no, no, no. There is a dead body.’
“So we all sort of tiptoed into the bedroom and sure enough, there’s this body underneath the sheet and we’re like, ”we really don’t know how to deal with this”.
“And then it started snoring and so we kind of nudged it.
“And then this old man sat bolt upright, no teeth and said, ”where’s my family?” and the people had left in such a rush that they forgot grandad.
“Grandad was still sleeping in the bed. The family had left. The house had been sold. He’s suddenly faced with film crew from homes under.”
Thankfully Martin revealed that their family had not moved too far away from the original house and once they ‘gave him a cup of tea and calmed him down’ the grandad was reunited with his family.”
Martin recently had his very own near-death experience.
The TV personality was involved in a major health scare last year after being rushed to the hospital when fluid built up in his heart, and the surgery saved his life.
He says the experience left him suffering from panic attacks and fearing that the clock was ticking and he didn’t know how long he had left.
He added that his biggest fears were “not being here, not seeing the kids, not fulfilling all my ambitions, and not doing all the things I wanted to do.”
But he refuses to slow down. He is ploughing ahead with his pub renovation project at Hendrewem Hotel.
However, over Christmas, he was seen taking his life into his own hands as he tried to get involved in putting lights up in the damp.
