THE world’s toughest campervan with military-spec tyres and go-anywhere suspension boasts surprising levels of luxury inside – all for a price of around £350,000.
The super-strong Commander 4×4, built by Australia-based company SLRV, can go places other motorhomes simply can’t.
Built around the powerful MAN TGM 13.290, a four-wheel drive truck renowned for its capability and reliability, the Commander 4×4 features monstrous military-grade tyres and an innovative chassis design, capable of taking on virtually any kind of terrain the world happens to throw at it.
Described by SLRV as the “ultimate 4×4 expedition vehicle”, the motor’s hardiness is in contrast to its grandeur inside, as occupants are treated to the very best in amenities.
These include a huge water-supply system, solar power, a full kitchen and bathroom, dining area, and a queen-sized bed.
The interior is also fully customisable, with buyers able to choose how many beds they have and their sizes, along with various different options for seating, cooktops, and entertainment.
Buyers can also choose from a variety of cab configurations, as well as a wide range of options for extra fuel tanks, solar arrays, and diesel appliances.
Additionally, the Commander 4×4 offers a sizable bathroom with the vehicle itself capable of carrying up to 1,000 litres of water with a filtration system.
There’s even potential for add-ons, such as an ATV garage – for those who want to bring along an additional vehicle.
However, even the base-level Commander 4×4 isn’t cheap — starting at $435,000, roughly £350,000.
Of course, if the Commander 4×4 isn’t quite big enough already, SLRV also sells the Commander 8×8 – a larger, luxury eight-wheel-drive motorhome available in single or double-story configurations.
Currently, SLRV builds its vehicles in Australia and ships them globally, although according to Business Insider, there are plans to create models for the US market.
This comes as we revealed another mighty motorhome earlier this year built by iconic tuning company Brabus – known for their long-running association with Mercedes.
Called the Big Boy 1200, the 12-metre long, 26-tonne beast is based on the Mercedes Actros truck and features a full kitchen, luxury living room, and even heated flooring – all for a staggering £1million.
Loaded with luxury, the Big Boy 1200 includes a 30-square metre living space – similar in size to a small one-bedroom flat.
Elsewhere, a couple revealed to Sun Motors how they’ve moved into their Land Rover and saved £60,000 on rent.
Nick Chazee and Mathilde Vougny ditched their nine to fives to clock up 68,350 miles travelling across the globe in their rugged Defender 110.
They chose the iconic 4×4 for its durability and versatility, opting for a model with a pop-top roof that allows them to stand up inside, making it more spacious and comfortable.
