AUDIENCE members watching The Chase on Christmas day were shocked when celeb players won a £116,000 jackpot in a controversial way.
Fans were quick to point out a glaring error in one of the quiz questions.
In the festive episode a celebrity team made up of Coronation Street actor Tony Maudsley, Pointless host Alexander Armstrong, Olympic gold medallist Bryony Page, and comedian Kerry Godliman went head to head with the formidable Chasers.
Bradley Walsh hosted the Christmas showdown – which ended in a victory for the celebrity team.
However, one particular result left fans scratching their heads.
Bradley asked Alexander Armstrong: “What name is given to a pointed hand tool used for making holes in the ground for seeds or young plants?”
The options provided were: A) Dibble B) Nibble C) Quibble
Alexander chose dibble, which Bradley confirmed as correct.
The crowd erupted into cheers and other members of the celeb team could be seen clapping their hands at the victory, but viewers at home spotted something wrong with the answer.
According to gardening enthusiasts, the proper term is “dibber”, not “dibble”.
Fans took to social media to protest the decision, with one saying: “It’s actually called a dibber, not a dibble.”
Another agreed: “It’s dibber not dibble.”
A third added: “That’s what I thought as well.”
Gardener’s World describes a dibber as “an ideal tool for gardening”.
