ITV viewers have not held back as Freddie Flintoff presented the new reboot of 80s and 90s gameshow Bullseye.
The iconic gameshow has returned to air for a festive special, but rather than bringing Christmas spirit the show has irked viewers at home.
The TV programme saw Cricket star Freddie Flintoff presenting the classic darts show, with an excited crowd cheering on and getting excited as prizes were won.
Yet taking to social media, viewers at home have hit out at the crowd as they slammed them for being too loud.
One viewer wrote on X: “Had to turn my TV down as the audience were clapping the whole way through.
“One contestant scores 6 points in the “Pounds for points” round and he gets a loud round of applause. What the f*** was that all about??”
Another thought similar as they posted: “Really wanted to enjoy the Bullseye reboot. But, it’s far too loud, doesn’t feel anything like the original, and the audience noise is annoying.
“I liked when it felt like they’d coached in a load of old people to a social club on a Sunday to watch a pub quiz with darts involved.”
A third simply stated: “#bullseye the clapping is too loud and too much.. it’s ruining it!”
“Why are tv audiences nowadays so loud and annoying? #Bullseye,” questioned another.
The presenting gig is the ex-cricketer’s first new TV commission since his horrific crash on Top Gear, that left him with significant injuries.
Taking over the role from the late Jim Bowen for the Christmas special, Freddie revealed the TV show had always been a childhood favourite.
Speaking in October, he shared: “I love the darts and Bullseye was one of my favourite shows as a kid.
“I can’t quite believe I’ll get to host this Christmas special.
Then, echoing one of Jim’s famous catchphrases, he added: “You can’t beat a bit of Bully!”
Taking to ITV is the first time many fans will have seen Freddie return to presenting since he nearly died two years ago in a crash for Top Gear.
The sportsman and dad of four nearly died when his three-wheel roadster flipped at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, in December 2022.
After numerous operations, he was able to return and finish filming the second series of his BBC One show, Field of Dreams, in which he took a group of novice cricketers to India.
In the series he revealed just how lucky he was to survive, as he said in the show: “I genuinely should not be here after what happened. It’s going to be a long road back and I’ve only just started.
“I’ve got to look at the positives, I’ve got another chance, and I’m going to go at it. I’m seeing that as how it is — a second go.”
