DEAR DEIDRE: WHENEVER I see my friend with her husband I feel guilty.
We shared a drunken kiss at their little girl’s birthday party.
I am a 27-year-old single woman.
My friend and her husband are 30.
They live at the opposite end of my street.
I first met them when they were out walking with their daughter.

She had dropped a glove and I picked it up and returned it to them.
After that, I used to see them regularly and we became firm friends.
Their daughter turned four a month ago.
I was delighted when they invited me to her party.
I had a glass or two of wine more than I normally do and felt pretty drunk.
I offered to tidy up and began clearing away the party food when my friend’s husband came into the kitchen.
He thanked me for helping out and I leaned over to kiss him.
That was as far as it went but the thought of what happened tears me apart.
I am mortified that I may have ruined a great friendship with a stupid drunken kiss.
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: It sounds like you made a silly mistake – your friend also.
Try not to focus too much on this.
Have a brief conversation with your male friend underlining it won’t happen again, you regret it and want to move on.
I’m sure he’ll be relieved.
My support pack Feeling Guilty will help.
It sounds like you would be wise not to be left alone with this man for a while and watch how much you drink.
