DEAR DEIDRE: MY eco-friendly husband has stopped me from going on holiday for the past ten years, and I’ve had enough.
All I want is to see the world, but I can’t even mention visiting a different country without him berating me on the environmental impact of air travel.
I’m 54, my husband is 56, and we’ve been married for 20 years.
We used to love going on holidays, but over the past decade, he has become obsessed with global warming.
He vowed to never step foot on a plane and has prevented us from going abroad ever since.
While I understand he’s passionate about what he believes in, I’ve always dreamed of travelling the world, and not being able to has made me bitter.
Every problem gets a personal reply, usually within 24 hours weekdays.

Thinking about all the places I could see is making me miserable and I often wonder what would happen if I just packed a bag and left without a word.

DEIDRE SAYS: While it’s natural to want to support our partner’s passions, there are always compromises that would work for both of you.
If he isn’t willing to fly with you, perhaps you could suggest driving, taking the train, or a cruise together?
If he still refuses, consider travelling solo or with a friend.
Tell him that while you support his passions, you can’t hold yourself back for him.
I’m sending you my support pack, Looking After Your Relationship, to help you have this conversation.
