RUMORS have circulated that Macaulay Culkin and Catherine O’Hara could return for a brand new Home Alone movie.
The franchise consists of six fabulously-festive movies, two of which focus on the character of Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin – sadly hearsay on a seventh has been debunked.
Macaulay rose to fame when he played Kevin McCallister in the first Home Alone film in 1990.
He was just ten at the time.
The movie, which is about eight-year-old Kevin being forgotten about on a family holiday, gets many of us into the Christmas spirit.
Abandoned, Kevin is left alone to protect his home from bandits, Harry and Marv, while his family try to return to him for Christmas.
Spoiler alert – Kevin’s mom Kate, played by Catherine O’Hara, manages to get home to her son just in time for Christmas.
The whole family then reunites and all is well.
Macaulay also returned for Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992), but despite the franchise continuing, this was the end of the actor’s Home Alone stint.
On November 4, 2024, @YodaBBYABY shared a poster on Facebook promoting a new Home Alone movie, titled Cabin Alone.
The movie poster features Macaulay and his “mom” Catherine.
The post chronicles a storyline where Kevin and Kate plan a Christmas vacation in an isolated cabin, but end up under threat from old adversaries Harry and Marv.
The synopsis claims the movie sees the mom-and-son combo joining forces to defend the cabin.
It reads: “With snow-covered traps, outrageous pranks, and high-stakes holiday antics, they turn the quiet cabin into a thrilling battleground that’ll have you laughing and cheering.”
The caption then claims that Cabin Alone will be released on Disney+ in December 2024.
However, a closer look at the Facebook page reveals that all the posts are completely false.
YODA BBY ABY states: “I’m just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical.
“The page is 100% satire and fake news.”
So sadly, it’s very unlikely Macaulay or Catherine will be returning for a new Home Alone movie.
However, it isn’t all bad news.
In September 2024, it was announced that Macaulay will begin a Home Alone tour on Saturday, November 30.
The tour will take off in Buffalo, New York, and continue for 14 more shows across the US as follows:
The series is titled Home Alone: A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin.
The tour synopsis reads: “Relive the iconic scenes and heartwarming moments from Home Alone on the big screen, and then dive deep into the behind-the-scenes stories and insights with Macaulay Culkin himself.
“Hear about his experiences on set, his favorite memories from filming, and his take on why this movie has become such a beloved holiday classic.”
The tour officially ends on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
