A MASKED man accosted two 16-year-old girls on Hallowe’en and forced unknown “sweets” into their mouths, causing both to fall ill soon after, police said today/last night
A hunt for the mystery man who was wearing a red and white face mask, was continuing today as detectives who carried out forensic tests on the girls, awaited the results.
Detectives said that they were expanding their inquiries into the bizarre incident which happened in Bushey, Herts., last Wednesday evening.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information as part of continuing inquiries into an incident in Bushey on Hallowe’en.
“The Hertsmere Local Crime Unit have been investigating a report that two 16-year-old girls were approached by a male in Park Avenue at around 7.15pm.
“It was reported that the male forced an unknown ‘sweet’ into their mouths. One of the girls was also struck to the face. Both girls became unwell a short time later and were taken to hospital to be checked.
“Thankfully, they were later discharged with no serious injuries or concerns.
“The male was described at the time of the incident as being white, approximately 6ft tall, of slim build. He was wearing a red and white mask, a black Nike tracksuit and black trainers.”
Detective Constable Gemma Haines said: “I understand that this incident has caused concern among the local community. I’d like to reassure people that thorough inquiries are being carried out to establish exactly what happened and how the girls came to be unwell. Forensic tests have been completed and we’re awaiting the results.
“Since the report was made, we’ve conducted house-to-house inquiries and reviewed any possible CCTV opportunities. We’ve also spoken to potential witnesses.
“To ensure that every possible avenue is explored, we’re extending our appeal and asking anyone else with information to please come forward. Did you see someone in the area matching the description given? Did you capture any CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage?
