THIS is the shocking moment an ambulance barrels head-first into a car that pulls out in front of it before crashing into a ditch on its side.
The dashcam footage released yesterday reveals the ambulance rushing to an emergency, when it is forced to swerve off the road to avoid the white car.
The emergency vehicle then flips over in a terrifying turn of events.
Despite its blue lights being clearly on, the driver of the white Ford does not appear to notice the emergency response vehicle.
The motorist fled the scene after the incident and is currently being sought by cops.
Thankfully, there were no injuries as a result of the collision.
However, police said the incident did prevent the ambulance from attending a critical patient – putting their life in danger.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “The ambulance was not conveying any patients at the time, but was on a blue-light run and this caused a considerable and potentially life-threatening delay in getting to that patient, who was attended to by another ambulance instead.”
Cops are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, which took place at about 11:15pm on September 20 on the A339 near Alton in Hampshire.
The spokesperson added: “A small white car, possibly a Ford Fiesta or Focus, is seen on dash cam footage but did not stop at the scene.
“We are continuing to investigate a number of lines of enquiry to identify this vehicle and its driver, and are now issuing this dash cam footage as part of our appeal.
“If you are this driver, or know who they are, please contact us.
“We would also like to speak to anyone with relevant dash cam or CCTV footage.”
Despite there being no injuries, the incident did cause £26,000 worth of damage to the ambulance, which will take over a month to repair.
