IF YOU want bang for your buck, Wetherspoon pubs are the place to go, and it’s not just for cheap booze.
Punters have been loving the bargain food menu in Spoons for years, from their tasty pizzas to delicious side orders.

Macey Newberry took to TikTok to rave about the secret menu item, which she claimed is even better than similar dishes from Wagamama.
“This was my go-to,” she said, as she tucked into a bowl of steaming chicken ramen.
The dish, which costs around £6, has flavourful broth, noodles, chicken and all the trimmings you’d expect on a tasty bowl of ramen.
“If you were to get a ramen anywhere else in England, like a Wagamama, you’d be paying at least £11 or £12.
“So, for six quid I can hand on heart say this is better than a Wagamama,” Macey said.
The foodie went on to rave about the incredible “depth of flavour” of the broth, which she said is even better than the flavour than the chain restaurant.
In fact, Macey went as far to say the ramen from Wagamama tasted “like dishwater”, unlike the cheap and cheerful ramen bowl from trust old Spoons.
Other foodies were left divided by the claim, with many unable to believe the boozer could serve up such a delicious dish.
“The noodles are way too soggy I found,” one person commented on the viral clip.
Another agreed: “It has no flavour! I work in Spoons so maybe it’s just our pub.”
Meanwhile, others were firmly on Macey’s side, one commented: “I love it! Way better than the Wagas chicken ramen. The Spicey one slaps though.”
For anyone wanted to add a dash more spice to their Wetherspoon ramen, Macey recommended adding the garlic chili sauce.
“I’ve been wanted to try it for ages, you’ve twisted my arm I’m defo gonna have to try it now,” someone else wrote.
The dish isn’t the only one Macey has raved about on social media though, recently she shared a secret hack to get the most out of your nachos in the pub.
“If you’re in the predicament of choosing between a five bean chili meal or a bowl of nachos, you can get both,” she said.
When ordering your grub you’ll need to go to the bar to customise them.
Simply ask the staff member taking your order add on a five bean chilli.
However, you should clarify you don’t want the five bean chilli as a meal, but rather from the deli plates section of the menu, where there are the jacket potato add on options.
“If you would have got both meals it would have been 15 quid, but I’ve just saved eight quid, you’re welcome,” Macey said.
FREE refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.
Check a map – Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.
So if you’re planning a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you’re settling in at the cheapest.
Choose your day – Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.
For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.
Pick-up vouchers – Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.
Get appy – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.
Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.
Check the date – Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.
As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
