A CHART-TOPPING pop star’s ex looks unrecognisable in a training snap for his first Ironman.
He was once married to one of the country’s biggest singers, with a wedding that drew celebs and royals alike.
As an Oxford University graduate, he’s also related to one of Hollywood’s hottest stars, rumoured to be the next James Bond.
With friends in high places, having attended Harvard too, the well-connected art dealer represented Team GB in rowing and now works at the prestigious White Cube gallery – but who exactly is he?
It’s Ellie Goulding‘s estranged husband Caspar Jopling, 32, and he was photographed in Barcelona preparing for the triathlon.
Sharing the image to Instagram yesterday, he wrote in his caption: “First ironman, last ironman (probably) .. this was 9 hours into my 11hr 20 finish time .. regrettably ill prepared but who doesn’t enjoy pushing their limits sometimes @ironmantrispain.”
Caspar successfully went incognito during his prep, wearing wraparound mirrored sunglasses and a baseball cap.
He sported a black trisuit too, which he’d zipped down to reveal his bare chest.
Ellie and Caspar began dating in 2017 and married two years later in 2019 in what looked like a fairytale ceremony in York Minster after a 12 month engagement.
They then welcomed their son Arthur together in 2021, but we reported that after battling with hectic schedules, they were spending time separately.
Last year, she was spotted without her wedding ring as she left the Treehouse Hotel in London’s Marylebone alone looking pensive.
After we reported they attempted to get the spark back, onlookers saw Ellie and Caspar on a date night at Ricky Gervais’ comedy show in London’s Leicester Square.
In September, we also previously told how Caspar had asked Ellie to cool off her close friendship with Tory MP Zac Goldsmith in a bid to focus on their four-year marriage.
She later moved out of the home she shared with Caspar – just days after being pictured kissing her surf instructor Armando Perez in his native Costa Rica.
But this was back in April and the pair haven’t been seen together since.
Caspar’s father is The Hon Nicholas Jopling of Yorkshire and his mother is Jayne Warde-Aldam of Yorkshire.
His uncle is art dealer Jay Jopling, founder of renowned gallery White Cube, who was formerly married to Sam Taylor Johnson, who is now with 007 candidate Aaron.
He is a close friend of Princess Eugenie and he and Ellie are have previously been pictured spending time with the member of the Royal Family.
Caspar has a reported net worth of £5.6million, which he has likely amassed from his successful career as an art dealer.
Ellie, meanwhile, has a fortune of £14million from her music career..
Ellie and Caspar kept news of their baby a secret until Ellie was already almost eight months pregnant.
In an interview, she revealed that being in lockdown at their home in Gloucestershire due to the Covid-19 pandemic allowed them to keep the news under wraps for so long.
On May 2, 2021, Caspar announced that their baby had been born.
Posting on social media, he said: “Mum and baby both healthy and happy. Extremely grateful.”
It has since been revealed that their baby, a boy, is called Arthur.
Ellie has spoken about motherhood, saying it “really has changed everything about [her] life.”
