STUDIO Lambert, the production company responsible for bringing The Traitors to the small screen, is working on an epic new reality series that’s set to rival the BBC hit which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
The production company has helmed dozens of popular reality shows, but is now casting for their new “social power play competition” series which is set to debut on a “major network.”
Tentatively titled, The Reward, this series will see a group of contestants work as a team in the hopes of taking home a big cash prize.
According to the official synopsis, The Reward is an immersive, mischievous new reality competition series which takes a diverse group of people from all walks of life and ages who must work together to earn money, but they can’t split the winnings equally.
One person will receive more money than the others – which has been dubbed the Reward.
Who will outwit, outplay, and outmanoeuvre the others to claim The Reward?
In this high-stakes game of collaboration and cunning, how far will you go to make sure you get the biggest cut?
Game show hopefuls have until the end of November to submit their online applications for the new show.
The application also teases that the series may go to a rival network rather than the BBC.
“A major network is unveiling a brand-new social power play competition where players will push their limits and test how far they’ll go to take home a fortune,” the brief reads.
Studio Lambert has a track record of producing successful shows for broadcasters like the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 as well as the streaming service Netflix.
It is responsible for bringing popular series like Gogglebox, Naked Attraction, Race Across the World and Squid Game: The Challenge to the small screen.
News of the upcoming series comes after it was announced that an exciting spin-off series based on The Traitors would be coming to the U.K.
The Traitors has been hosted by Claudia since it premiered in November 2022. The show is loosely based on the Dutch series De Verraders.
Set in the grounds of a historic Scottish Castle, it follows a group of 2022 players.
A small number contestants become the titular “Traitors,” and must work together to eliminate the other contestants in order to win a grand prize, while the remaining contestants become “Faithfuls” and are tasked to discover and banish the Traitors by voting them out, to win the grand prize for themselves.
Towie:
Cast members are put into four pay bands based on their popularity.
Reality veterans Bobby Norris, James ‘Diags’ Bennewith, Georgia Kousoulou, and Chloe Sims were in the top tier, which meant they commanded £450 an episode.
Others were paid £350, £250 or £90 if they were a newcomer trying to prove their worth.
Geordie Shore:
The MTV show reportedly paid cast members £1,000-a-month for their wild antics in the early days of the show.
Veteran Sophie Kasaei revealed the cast had to work other jobs to supplement their income.
She said: “When we first started the show we got absolutely nothing.
“The most we ever got was £1000 a month and we couldn’t survive on that, obviously after tax as well.
“Most of us worked at the call centre because in Newcastle there’s a lot of call centres because we can sell you the dream, we’re very friendly and warm and trustworthy.
Gogglebox:
Each household is paid the same monthly allowance of £1,500.
A show insider revealed the fee is then split amongst contributors at their own discretion.
They also get to tuck into a free takeaway of their choice twice a week to keep them fuelled during long filming sessions.
The armchair critics have to watch 12 hours of telly a week in total – which is divided into two six-hour stints.
I’m A Celebrity:
The jungle show is a jewel in ITV’s crown with a bumper budget to boot. Payments are tailored to the individual, with the greater their fame or controversy factor, the bigger the cheque.
Nigel Farage reportedly bagged £1.5m for the last series – the most in its history.
While eventual series winner Sam Thompson was a snip at £80,000. This Morning’s Josie Gibson is said to have pocketed £100k while Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn received an impressive £250k.
Following its success, the game show has rapidly expanded, with international versions captivating audiences across the globe.
As of September, fans in the U.K. will get the chance to dive into the New Zealand edition – which fans have deemed “the best” of them all.
But the series has a few major differences from the U.K. version.
Teasing what’s ahead for British viewers, one New Zealand fan on X, formerly Twitter, said: “The first series is good. The second is sublime.”
While another person shared some information about the New Zealand version, saying: “NZS1 is good because it has different challenges than the UK/U.S. versions as they’re filmed in the same place.
“NZ also has a few celebrities in the cast mixed with regular people,” they added.
