HER nineties hit was branded the ‘sexiest ever’ by fans, and now, 28 years on, Sneaker Pimps’ Kelli Drayton looks unrecognisable[/caption]Kelli was a part of Sneaker Pimps – an English electronic band from Hartlepool, who formed in 1994.
Band founders Liam Howe and Chris Corner met when they were teenagers and formed the band, later recruiting Kelli.
The band was known for their debut album Becoming X (1996), as well as its popular singles ‘6 Underground’ and ‘Spin Spin Sugar.’
And fans have had a lot to say about ‘sexy’ song 6 Underground.
One person wrote: “When I was younger I thought this was the sexiest song ever written. Might still be true.”
Another said: “God yes and the live recording on some show in Australia IS the sexiest performance ever.”
The song in question reached number 15 on the Uk Singles Chart in September 1996.
And in the video, Kelli can be seen sitting in a chair in the middle of a room gazing at the camera while singing.
The video has accumulated 3.7million views on YouTube and sees Kelli dancing in a satin night gown.
Now 50-years-old, Kelli can be found working as an artist, and a recent photo of her sees her posing with one of her impressive pieces.
She wears a black dress and statement gold necklace with her brown hair down, while flashing a smile at the camera.
In another photo, she looked stunning in a black and white dress and large shades, and thanked people for attending a collective.
Kelli often posts photos of her incredible artwork, in a career a far cry away from her Sneaker Pimps days – but she has continued with her music, and there are various nods to it on her Instagram page.
Kelli was part of a group named Psycho Drama before Sneaker Pimps, which she joined when she was 16 years old.
She went on to join The Lumieres, after being asked by Russell Cross, but they only ended up having one major single, named Cinder Hearts.
After leaving Sneaker Pimps, Kelli moved on to a solo career under the name Kelli Ali.
This was after her father, who had passed away before the release of Becoming X.
Her first solo album was Tigermouth and includes tracks “Sunlight in the Rain” and “Kids.”
She then released a second album named Psychic Cat in mid-2004.
Kelli released her final album in November 2008, after travelling to Japan to write and record tracks.
The album was produced by Max Richter (Fat Cat records) in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
A year later she self-released an album named Butterfly, and released her 5th album in 2013, entitled Band of Angels.
She also embarked on an exciting project in 2016, which she initially revealed on her Instagram.
Ghostdrive was a “joint album & film project. A noir thriller and love letter to London.”
Most recently, her song “Rocking Horse” appeared on the soundtrack of six-part Netflix thriller, Behind Her Eyes.
