GOLDEN Bachelorette fans have been left raging as Gerry made a return to the series – but they were distracted by a detail.
In April, the Bachelor star Gerry Turner shocked the world by announcing he and his ex-wife Theresa Nist were getting a divorce.
On the season finale of The Golden Bachelor, Gerry, 72, proposed to Theresa, 70, and in January, the two tied the knot in a televised wedding ceremony.
Since the split, he revealed to TMZ that he wasn’t quite ready to get back into the dating pool – that was until he showed up on The Golden Bachelorette, where he came face to face with Joan Vassos, who is the current Bachelorette.
During his time on The Golden Bachelor, he picked Theresa not Joan, after she had to leave the show in week 3 due to a family emergency.
And now that he’s divorced, he returned to talk to Joan in shock scenes.
But fans weren’t impressed – not only with him showing back up, but with his tan.
Gerry was seen in a suit, climbing out of a limousine to surprise Joan, as host Jesse Palmer said that someone had arrived to see her.
One person wrote: “Can we get Gerry a sunscreen brand campaign?”
A second added: “Did Gerry spend too much time on the tanning bed? #TheGoldenBachelorette.”
A third said: “Go away Gerry no one cares about your advice or fake gross tan #goldenbachelorette.”
But Joan was clearly unfazed, and was quick to hug Gerry when she saw him, as she said: “Now I’m a little more scared.”
He replied: “Take a breath and be yourself. Have you considered the possibility that your guy is not here?”
Joan replied: “I have a couple strong connections, but I mean there is that possibility because merging lives is hard and it’s about how to honor each other’s lives and not ask somebody to give up too much of what’s important to them.”
Gerry added: “You know I’m rooting for you here, I will always have a bit of a special connection to you.”
It comes as Gerry and Theresa’s appearance on Celebrity Family Feud exposed the truth behind their failed marriage, a body language expert has said.
She claimed “terrified” Theresa’s gestures on the game show suggested the pair were doomed from the start, with the New Jersey native looking to her “showboating” husband for support.
They filmed the show before their split in April, competing with their kids Angie, Jenny, Jen, and Tommy.
The Golden Bachelor group faced off against the Bachelor team, consisting of Joey Graziadei and Kelsey Anderson.
Though the couple threw in the towel after marrying on The Golden Bachelor in January, they publicly made the most of their romance with the game show stint.
Body language expert Judi James said Theresa’s gestures contrasted with Gerry’s and indicated that their marriage was already in crisis.
“Theresa looked vulnerable and reluctant from start to finish,” she told The U.S. Sun.
“Her signals showed she desperately wanted her marriage to Gerry to be her happy ending.
“The saddest non-verbal tell was when she self-comforted using her wedding ring.
“Theresa wanted to see Gerry as ‘The One.’
“Gerry’s gestures, however, showed he viewed the marriage as a ladder rung to fame.
“Theresa showed no similar signs of seeking fame or of an inflated ego.
“This is what would cause them to divorce months later and suggest an insurmountable flaw in their marriage. This couple was already in crisis.”
