October 1 has started to trend on TikTok, with users on the social media platform adding Girl in Red’s “We fell in love in October” to their video content – here’s what we know about the viral trend.
The October 1 trend has less to do with posting about how excited you are for Halloween and spooky season – and all about love.
The new trend is about showing off your relationship on TikTok on October 1 to the popular song “We fell in love in October” – or pining about wanting to be in a relationship.
The song is all about falling in love and being in a relationship with another girl.
Lyrics to the song include: “You look so pretty and I love this view / We fell in love in October / That’s why, I love fall.
Followed by “My girl, my girl, my girl / You will be my girl.”
The song has become a hit for women in a same-sex relationship to express their love for their partner.
Men in relationship with women have also started to post the trend on TikTok as tributes to their girlfriends on October 1.
However, the viral TikTok trend isn’t just limited to those in a relationship.
Most of the videos under the October 1 trend are single people wishing to be in a relationship, so they can be posted by someone on the social media platform.
One person posted a video saying: “POV: U at 1 of October watching stories” as it showed them scrolling though TikTok.
While another posted: “Hoping I get posted for October 1” and received more than a million views.
The October 1 trend has been around since 2023.
The video trend has more than 50.5 million posts on TikTok and billions of views dedicated to love.
