A MAN known as the world’s “most monstrous bodybuilder” has died at the age of 36.
Belarusian Illia Golem reportedly suffered a heart attack at home on September 6 and his wife Anna performed CPR.
The bodybuilder was rushed to hospital by helicopter but later died.
“I prayed all this time, hoping that Illia would recover,” his wife told Belarusian outlet Onliner.
Golem ate seven times a day consuming 16,500 calories, including 108 pieces of sushi and over two kilograms of steak.
Known as the “340lbs beast” and The Mutant, he stood at a whopping 6ft 1 inch tall and boasted a 61-inch chest and 25-inch biceps.
She said after his death: “I thank everyone for their condolences. It’s very heartwarming to realise that I am not left alone in this world, and so many people have offered me help and support.”
“I spent every day by his side, hoping, and his heart started beating again for two days, but the doctor gave me the terrible news that his brain had died.”
Golem could lift a 600lb bench press and do 700lb deadlifts.
Although he didn’t compete professionally, he became iconic on social media with more than 300,000 Instagram followers.
“My transformation is a result of years of hard training and discipline, paired with an understanding of exercise physiology and nutrition,” he has previously said.
“My mission is to instil a work ethic in people so they can overcome and surmount their fears while acting confidently towards the betterment of themselves and those around them.”
The 35-year-old joined his local gym as a kid because he wanted to be like his heroes Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone.
With the help of the gym’s trainer and with tips from magazines, Golem began on the path to becoming one of the world’s most imposing bodybuilders.
Men’s Health previously revealed the contents of Golem’s typical daily diet.
He usually opted to eat seven meals, packing in the calories to supplement his gym work.
