ONE couple’s display of love for their country is almost as strong as their love for each other.
Critics slammed their custom wedding cake for being overtly patriotic and “aggressively American.”
Redditor SignificantBee6205 shared the wedding fail in a post.
“I don’t know this couple (thankfully), but we have mutual friends who showed me this picture. I could not help but post it here,” they said.
The four-tier ensemble cake featured a new theme on each layer.
The largest and bottom-most tier is centered on an American flag design, with the customary stripes and stars.
The next layer features the word “JEEP” in large white fondant letters.
Next up is a camo design, with the final layer of cake featuring a pair of electrical outlets.
“The groom is an electrician, and the bride loves her Jeep,” the Redditor explained.
“And… they love America and the general concept of camo, I guess?”
They urged viewers to pay attention to the final touch on the cake masterpiece.
“Also, please zoom in on that topper. My god,” they said, pointing out the bride and groom duo topper brandishing guns.
Critics shared their thoughts on the cake-tastrophe.
“Wtf with only 24 stars on the flag??? Is it just the red states or something?” asked one commenter.
“This is the most aggressively American thing I’ve ever seen,” said another.
“Mr. and Mrs. Smith reference in the cake topper,” said one viewer, pointing out the resemblance to the popular movie.
“Maybe because they’re back to back, and there appears to be a gun. It’s a weird and ugly cake, though, in any case.”
A cake professional added she felt bad for the person who had to make it.
“As a cake baker, I will just say… a cake doesn’t need to reflect all these different aspects of your personality,” they said.
“Pick one! Ugh. Lol, but down south, this is what ‘groom’s cakes’ are for. We put the ugly groom’s cake in a corner and still have a pretty wedding cake.
“I feel sorry for the baker. A well-decorated cake in extremely poor taste.”
Another agreed and added their own confusion over the design.
“The guy putting the receptacles on the f**king first layer of the cake must make being an electrician his whole personality,” they said.
“I get the (albeit trashy and predictable) theme of being a big truck driving, gun-toting, camo-wearing ‘murican… but outlets, really?
“Not even with a trashy custom topper where she is the outlet and he’s the plug? Lol, and where the hell is her career path cake layer?
“Also, could they not have printed nice, clean images of some outlets, the Jeep logo, or the American flag as they did for the camo? Why one layer?
“So much to think about.”
