“The tried-and-true grandma brands are worth your while,” she wrote, recommending products from Nivea and Dove.
“I like Nivea Soft moisturizer and the Dove plant milk bars, but the old Dove beauty bar is lovely too,” she noted.
That wasn’t the extent of her praise.
“French pharmacy brands like LaRoche-Posay, BioDerma, Avène, etc are also really good,” she added.
Other Redditors agreed, saying they also prefer older beauty brands.
“I spent a week in a rehab hospital about 20 years ago and had a roommate for a few days that was 93,” one recalled.
“She used Pond’s cold cream on her face twice a day, and her skin was incredibly beautiful. She said that was all she had ever used.”
The Redditor said she bought some ASAP and is still using it to this day.
“I just put it on last, on top of all the other things I’m using. I also used Oil of Olay back in the day,” she said.
TekFlower also shared the DIY treatments that can help “smooth those forehead wrinkles.”
“You can do microneedling, red light therapy, microcurrent, and radio frequency treatments at home if you invest in the tools,” she said.
She recommended watching YouTube videos on home beauty treatments and makeup reviews for more tips.

She said L’Oreal lip products, mascara, and serum foundation are decent everyday products for a “mom on the go.”
“But splurge on concealer if you need it,” she added.
She advised buying it from the brands Nars, CoverFX, and DRMTLGY.
The Reddit user also offered budget-friendly nail tips that slay without continual maintenance.
She recommended O.P.I. press-ons that are available at Walmart or DIY nail wraps that are “pretty easy to apply.”
“Look for the semi-hardened gel type and get the little light to set them and you’re golden,” she said.
“Aside from that, get a good glass nail file and cuticle pusher and keep them oiled. I use Bio-Oil on mine.”
