Greggs launches first-ever 22-carat gold jewellery range based on iconic menu items including sausage rolls

GREGGS has launched its own range of jewellery in a company first – and one piece is a play on its classic sausage roll.

The bakery chain has unveiled the fresh collection designed by British artist Dion Kitson.

Shoppers can bag themselves a range of 22-carat gold pieces including sausage roll stud earrings for £36 which celebrate the classic and popular snack.

There’s even vegan sausage roll stud earrings for the same price that feature a different style of pastry to the meat version.

There’s also an adjustable heart locket necklace up for grabs for £45 which can hold a picture of your nearest and dearest and a signet ring for £48 which comes in small, medium and large sizes.

Or, you can really stretch your pennies and fork out for the £96 charm bracelet adorned with sausage rolls, coffee cups, pizza slices and bakes.

The “Baked in Gold” collection will officially launch online at 10am on Friday (September 13), with Greggs saying it will post a link on its social media channels beforehand which you can follow to buy the pieces online.

The pieces won’t be available to buy in-branch.

Greggs said shoppers should act fast as there are only a limited number of each jewellery piece available and purchases are also limited to five pieces per person.

It’s not the first time Greggs has dipped its feet into the fashion sector, launching a number of lines with Primark in the past.

In summer 2022 it unveiled a summer range which went on sale at the major retailer including sausage roll socks and Greggs-branded cycle shorts.

It also launched an 11-piece collection which went on sale at 60 Primark stores earlier that year, and a range in-time for Christmas.

It’s not the first chain to launch a clothing line either, with Lidl and Aldi having unveiled a number of ranges between them in recent years.

The launch of Greggs’ new jewellery range comes after it bumped up the price of the much-loved sausage and vegan sausage rolls this summer by 5p to £1.25.

The hike came despite boss Roisin Currie saying Greggs “had no price increases on the cards” back in March.

However, Ms Currie said the chain had no plans to hike prices further this year.

At the end of July, Greggs reported its sales were 13.8% higher at 960.6million, helped by a number of new store openings.

It said at the time it had opened 99 new shops in the preceding six months, bringing its location count to over 2,500 in total.

Meanwhile, its like-for-like sales rose by 7.4% in the first half of the year.

The chain credited sales to new menu items including new “over-ice” drinks and its pizza deals.

Greggs has further expansion plans in the pipework too, as it plans to open dozens more locations before the end of the year in a boost for bakery lovers.

The chain has also been opening 24-hour branches at UK airports in recent years, including Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

Greggs staff were offered a massive boon back in March when the chain shared a £17.6million pot of cash between 25,000 staff, with the average worker receiving £765 each.
