A THRIFTY woman has wowed social media users with her epic slow-reno kitchen makeover using B&M and Amazon bargains.
According to recent data by HiF Kitchens, the average cost of a mid-range kitchen transformation the UK is around £20,000-£30,000 – but Amy Lou recently proved there’s no need to fork out the eye-watering sum.
As well as ordering bits from Amazon, Amy used a £10 B&M bargain and a unit from IKEA[/caption]The money-smart Londoner, who posted the jaw-dropping results on Facebook, managed to revamp her dull kitchen on a tight budget thanks to purse-friendly buys.
What’s even more impressive, Amy revealed in the post, she did everything herself – and you wouldn’t be able to tell that by the fabulous After snaps.
Before the gorgeous renovation project, the beige kitchen lacked character, featuring basic cupboards, a dark grey worktop and white walls.
Meanwhile, the dark washing machine didn’t fit the overall aesthetic, sticking out like a sore thumb and the simple white curtains also seemed outdated – as did the rusty stove.
But after a year of working on the DIY makeover, Amy managed to totally turn it upside down, giving the kitchen a brand new – and modern – look.
Instead of spending hundreds on new cupboards, the money-smart Facebook user decided to simply zhuzh up the existing set by painting with Johnstone’s Paint from B&M.
Depending on which shade you go for, you can pick up a pot of paint for as little as £12 – however, you’ll have to be quick, as the product is currently on sale.
The now-updated white cupboards looked more chic and trendy and went perfect with the lighter grey worktops and the beige flooring.
If you’re cash-strapped – or simply don’t want to waste money – you can snap up vinyl wraps from stores like Dunelm and make the worktops look brand new on the cheap.
The Londoner revealed she’d used D-X FIX self-adhesive, static film for the countertops, also from B&M, where she purchased two rolls for £20 – or a tenner each.
Amy – who chuckled she didn’t have the patience for another reno – also spruced up the walls using stick-on tiles from the online giant, Amazon.
Fellow DIY lovers are indeed spoilt for choice here, as the retailer offers a huge variety of the product, with a pick for every taste – and budget, with prices starting from as little as £8.
The stunning makeover also included a new cube unit on the side, which she’d bagged from IKEA.
All chuffed with the epic glow-up – and rightly so – Amy proudly wrote in the caption: ”After a year of tackling this solo I’ve finally done it.”
