However, Sean Dyche’s men were then beaten to the punch by Fulham, who made an even later bid to hijack the move.
Nuamah jetted to London on deadline day to undergo a medical and become a Craven Cottage player.
But L’Equipe claims the forward never wanted to leave Lyon in the first place.
He was reportedly in floods of tears throughout the day as he felt he was being forced out of the French club.
Nuamah then underwent the first part of his medical.
However, he later vanished and failed to turn up for the final stages.
Even his agent could not locate him in bizarre scenes.

And the deal eventually collapsed as Nuamah returned to Lyon.
He was then sent a message by Lyon owner John Textor, who apologised for the messy situation.
Nuamah will now be hoping to return to Lyon’s XI, having started their opening two games against Rennes and Monaco.
He did not feature in Friday’s win over Strasbourg due to his Fulham medical.
But Nuamah could be back in action later this month against Lens.
The 12-time Ghana international scored three goals in 33 games while on loan at Lyon last season.
And the Ligue 1 side only made his deal permanent in July.
