She joined the show for its fourth series playing detective Florence Cassell before officially quitting after series 11.
However, she then returned to Saint Marie as part of Ralf Little’s exit storyline in series 13, before departing again.
Josephine confirmed it would be her last appearance on the BBC drama.
“I already left and came back way too many times. I think it’s definitely the end for me on Death In Paradise,” she said on Instagram.
Shortly after departing again, Ralf also officially exited as lead detective Neville Parker on the island, and he will pass the baton to EastEnders alum Don Gilet.
Josephine’s new drama is worlds away from Death in Paradise, but it is set in another picturesque location.
The series is set in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, a French territory located just off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada.
The official Instagram page for the series has shared video from a behind-the-scenes photoshoot for Josephine’s character Geneviève, with the detective wearing a black jumper and matching trousers with a beige coat.
The caption on the post teases her starring role as it reads: “Main character moments with @josephinejobert_official.”
A brief synopsis for the series has also been released.
It teases that Geneviève, who is originally from Paris, will find herself working with Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector Donny ‘Fitz’ Fitzpatrick (Allan Hawco) when he’s exiled to the island after he pokes his nose into the dodgy affairs of a local politician.
Their wildly different policing styles will make for an interesting partnership as the pair are forced to team up.
“As if by fate, these two seasoned officers – with very different policing skills and approaches – are forced together to solve unique and exciting crimes,” the synopsis reads.
Death In Paradise started in 2011 and has welcomed four detectives so far to the island.
