THE fate of ITV’s Grace has been revealed days after a shock cast exit and series four’s debut.
Fans of the the John Simm-led series were delighted on Sunday night when the show returned for its fourth run.
A new series of Grace is set to be back on ITV tonight, but one character will be sorely missed[/caption] DS Roy Grace and Cleo Morrey in emotional scenes.[/caption]And the good news keeps on coming, as ITV have now confirmed Grace will be back for a fifth series.
Executive Producer Phil Hunter said: “It’s fantastic that Grace is back for a fifth series and we get to adapt another four of Peter’s brilliant books for ITV.
“I can’t wait to see the cast and crew assembled for what will be my first series.
“It’s wonderful to be working with such a talented group of people who put their all into making a show they love.”
Author Peter James added: “When the first episode of Grace aired in 2021, it was a dream come true.
“It is both heartening and astounding to me that we’re already at series five!
“The continued success of Grace is a testament to the outstanding cast headed by John Simm and crew and, equally importantly, the fans, who have loved and devoted their time to these characters both on the page and now the screen.
“It is also a testament to just how faithfully ITV have adhered to both the characters and stories in the novels.’
Unfortunately, it will be without actor Craig Parkinson – who plays DS Norman Potting – as he confirmed last week that he was leaving the show.
He has played the role since the show’s inception in 2021, and TV fans will also remember him as Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan in Line Of Duty.
He took to social media with an emotional announcement this week.
Grace, has proven to be a massive hit with fans since it launched its first season of the crime drama in March, 2021.
But confirmation of another series to follow is titillating lovers of the crime drama.
John Simm recently hinted that the fifth season might shock even those superfans who have read all the books.
Crime drama buffs have a wide selection of choices on ITVX - here is a selection of some of the programmes available to binge.
In an interview with the Sun’s TV Mag, he revealed: “We’ve already started to veer a little away from the books – there are certain little
things.
The new series will feature episodes: ‘Dead If You Don’t’, ‘Dead At First Sight’, ‘Need You Dead’ and ‘Find Them Dead’.
For the new season, many familiar faces, such as Richie Campbell, who plays DS Glenn Branson, Zoë Tapper as Cleo Morey, Laura Elphinstone as DS Bella Moy, Brad Morrison as DC Nick Nicholl and Sam Hoare as ACC Cassian Pewe, are set to return.
