SONY has introduced an “epic” PlayStation upgrade that allows gamers to customise the settings on their controllers.
It means PlayStation fans can level-up their hand-eye coordination when playing high speed games.
Only the DualSense Edge controllers are customisable[/caption]Sony has given the PlayStation firmware updater for PC a major rebrand, retitling it as the PlayStation Accessories app.
In a statement on X earlier this week, PlayStation wrote: “Starting today PC gamers can unleash the full customisable power of the DualSense Edge controller directly on their computer.
“With the PlayStation Accessories app, customise the controller’s settings and update its firmware directly from your Windows PC.”
The app lets gamers reassign buttons, adjust thumbstick sensitivity, and tweak the trigger deadzones.
It also allows players to create multiple custom profiles, where they can jump from one custom controller setting to another depending on the game they’re playing.
For example, if you go from a jaunty adventure game to a high-speed shooter title, you don’t have to fine-tune your controller each time.
Here's everything you need to download the PlayStation Accessories app and customise your controller:

The new feature gives Windows PC players an extra edge.
“Now this is epic,” one gamer wrote on social media platform X.
Another added: “That’s awesome news for PC gamers! Now they can level up their gaming experience with full control. Can’t wait to see the custom setups.”
A third person wrote: “Very cool update! Hopefully, more games start to take advantage of the features that the DualSense Edge brings with it!”
It’s important to note these customisations won’t be accessible on a regular DualSense wireless controller.
Only the DualSense Edge controllers are customisable – but they’re definitely costly.

Here's what you need to know...
There are several different colours that can appear on your PlayStation joypad.
They might show up at the sides of the Touch Bar on the face of the DualSense – or the LED bar, which is just below the PS button.
It’s also important to note that you’ll get different lights when you’re linked to a PS5 – or if you’re connected to another device via Bluetooth, like your Apple iPad or a gaming PC.
Playing on a PS5
Your PS5 controller will normally show a blue light when it’s connected to a PlayStation.
But if a second DualSense joins, their colour will be red.
Green signifies that a third player has been added, and purple is used to show a fourth.
You might also find that the bar turns orange. That means you’re running low on battery.
However, if it’s a pulsing light, that means your PS5 is either charging or entering Rest Mode.
Finally, if the LED bar below your PS button is orange, it means the controller is muted.
This is extremely important: you don’t want to be accidentally chatting in voice lobbies because your microphone is active.
Playing on another device
When you’re connected to something other than a PS5, the lights take on a different meaning.
A blue and white light-pulse means that you’re pairing with a device.
And a solid blue indicates that the pairing is finished.
An orange-and-white light means that your DualSense is paired to another device.
And a pulsing orange light signals that your controller is charging.
