SOAP fans have been left fuming at the current cult storyline on Coronation Street, and several even asked ITV bosses to ditch it.
Over the past few months newcomer Rowan has been grooming Leanne into joining his group, the Altovalent Institute.
Leanne has become entrenched in a cult in Coronation Street[/caption] She was conscripted by charismatic Rowan[/caption] Viewers are sick of watching the story of The Institute play out[/caption]The cult leader managed to isolate her from friends and family by setting up an AI version of her dead son Oliver for her to speak to.
This gave him an element of control over her as if she decided to leave The Institute, Leanne would also lose access to her ‘son’.
She began to advance up the ranks of the mysterious organisation as Rowan pulled her further into his orbit, and even ended up convincing vulnerable teen Amy to donate her inheritance money to the group.
Amy agreed to give The Institute £40k, but soon regretted her decision after going through a horrible ordeal at Rowan’s hands.
She was encouraged to participate in a ‘malware session’ which involved other members of The Institute hurling abuse as her.
They called her insults such as “liar,” “whore, “slag” and “baby killer” as she stood in the middle of a circle, blindfolded.
The teen burst into tears during the terrible experience and walked out.
When Leanne went after her, the distraught girl asked: “What was that?
“The things they were saying. The things you were saying.
“Please don’t make me go back in there. I can’t go back in there. Don’t make me go back in there Leanne.”
After last night’s episode, Corrie fans are completely fed up with the cult storyline, and have insisted it be taken off screens.
One person raged: “Uploads and malware, wtf does that even mean. Hurry up and end this storyline it’s absolute garbage.”
Another exclaimed: “What an load of rubbish this religions cult storyline is!”
A third added: “I’m sorry but the Coronation Street cult storyline just has to end. It’s gone completely beyond the joke. It’s one of the worst things ever.”
