THERE are always rumours about upcoming consoles, but a recent leak seems more credible than most.
Most online leaks are easy to discount, as they come from anonymous sources claiming to have some leaks to the company.
The console is rumoured to be similar to the PS5 Slim’s design[/caption]However, the vast majority of these turn out to be fake, and very few credible leakers can be found online.
One of these credible sources is a French leaker known by the alias billbil-kun.
He consistently reveals information later proven to be correct, such as the games that will be available on PS Plus and the free games via the Epic Games Store.
Recently, billbil-kun posted a report on Dealabs suggesting that a PS5 Pro will be announced in September.
He believes that there will be a PlayStation State of Play in September, possibly in the first half of the month.
It is said that the PS5 Pro will be revealed during the showcase. If this is true, it will likely be at the end of the show as this is typically when new hardware is revealed.
The report also shows a drawing of the PS5 Pro, which billbil-kun claims is based on a final design document he has seen.
The drawing looks similar to the design of the PS5 Slim except there is a difference in the black bar in the middle.
Rather than having one solid black line cut through the centre of the console, there are three black stripes.
The drawing doesn’t show a disc drive for the PS5 Pro, though there are a few possible reasons for this.
If the drawings indeed reflect the final design of the PS5 Pro, then there could be a removable disc-drive like the one available for the PS5 Slim.
The PS5 Pro could be released in two versions with or without the disc drive, or it could be that only the discless version will be sold, and people can use the same disc drive accessory that was sold for the Slim.
Billbil-kun also claims that while the PS5 Pro design shares a similar look to the Slim, the upcoming console will be slightly bigger.
Of course, the PS5 Pro is only a rumour at this point and nothing has been officially revealed by PlayStation.
However, given billbil-kun’s excellent track record, this report is the most credible that we’ve seen so far.
