Despite Ken’s concerns, he was convinced it was a good investment and sent £40k to The Institute.
However, Amy’s traumatising experience with The Institute made her instantly regret her decision and demand her money back.
But will Rowan oblige?
In distressing scenes, Amy was instructed to wear a blindfold and endure strangers yelling abuse at her, including Leanne.
They shouted insults such as “liar,” “whore, “slag” and “baby killer.”
Despite reassuring words from Leanne to stay, it became too much for Amy to bear and she walked out mid session in tears.
“What was that?” Amy asked Leanne.
Leanne answered: “It’s your inner voice. You need to confront it. I know it’s horrible, but once you confront it you feel so much better I promise you.”
Amy said: “The things they were saying. The things you were saying.
“Please don’t make me go back in there. I can’t go back in there. Don’t make me go back in there Leanne.”
Leanne assured her that she didn’t have to do anything against her will and held her in her arms while she sobbed.
Later, Amy told Leanne she wanted her £40k investment money back.
But Rowan told her that its gone to their parent company and out of his hands.
Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock…
When Amy told her family about her awful experience, they were left fuming and fought for Amy to get her money back.
Steve yelled at Leanne for putting her through the verbal abuse.
And Tracy confronted Rowan about scamming her daughter out of her inheritance money.
Rowan stood by that Amy and her money are well taken care of, before adding that Ken and Amy approved of the investment and that it is all above board.
A fuming Tracy warned him to stay away from Amy and vowed he will get what’s coming to him before throwing a drink in his face.
At the police station, Kit informed the family that they cannot charge Rowan without evidence that he manipulated Amy into sending the money.
And taking him to court will cost more in legal fees than she lost.
Amy was left feeling deflated, but also worried for Leanne as she thinks she is also a victim of The Institute.
Meanwhile, Leanne frantically kept calling Rowan to try and get Amy’s money returned back to her, but he ignored her.
Has Leanne realised The Institute isn’t what she thought it was?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
