MOTORISTS have the chance to guarantee savings with just one simple change that anyone can try.
The AA has revealed that EV drivers spend five times less when following the rule.

The analysis from AA has described the findings as a “huge benefit to motorists”.
The new research was calculated from July and has found that electric car drivers on a Standard Rate domestic tariff are paying less than 5p per mile.
Although energy prices could see changes in October, the current bargain has come after a 2p reduction in the Energy Price Cap on July 1.
According to the AA’s Recharge Report the 5p level is a “worst case scenario” since some suppliers offer a reduction in fees for drivers opting to charge at off-peak times.
These times tend to be overnight.
The first report of its kind was launched in December 2022 and recorded the average price to charge an EV was 7.99p for those at home.
This means that from then until now there has been a 61% reduction.
In July, it will cost £30.80 to ‘fill-up’ 80% of an EV’s charge at an ultra-rapid point in public.
Compared to £46.43 for a petrol car, the price is remarkable.
Jack Cousens, head of roads policy at The AA, told GB News: “Driving an EV for less than five pence a mile is a landmark moment and shows just how cheap running an EV can be.
“As this is the cost based on the Standard Variable rates, savvy EV drivers will have scoped out the best deals across energy providers to bring their costs down further.”
Those who are new to EVs may be wondering what they need to know about charging.
