Aaron Ramsdale’s Arsenal transfer exit collapses as Premier League rivals walk away from Gunners’ demands

WOLVES have pulled out of the race to sign Arsenal’s wantaway goalie Aaron Ramsdale.

Gary O’Neil was keen to sign the 26-year-old keeper, but the Gunners were not interested in a loan deal and insisted on an obligation to buy.

Wolves decided the £20million package, coupled with Ramsdale’s personal demands, were too rich for them and are now expected to keep faith with first choice Jose Sa.

Ramsdale is keen to gain more game time after losing his spot at the Emirates to David Raya.

The England international has two years remaining on his contract with Arsenal following his arrival from Sheffield United in 2021.

Wolves will not be a destination for the goalkeeper as the West Midlands side’s finances still appear to be tight.

This is despite the club making high-profile sales of Max Kilman to West Ham and Pedro Neto to Chelsea.

The two exits are expected to have raised approximately £100m for the club.

Wolves have started the season with two defeats to Arsenal 2-0 and Chelsea 6-2.

O’Neil has insisted that the club needs to make sure they are comfortable at the end of the window.

He said: “When it shuts, we need to be comfortable with where we are.

“There’s a lot of work for myself and I need to get more out of the group we have.

“Then there’s an understanding the Premier League is tough, and if you sell good players, it makes you weaker.”

Arsenal, however, have completed the deal to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

The midfielder signed in a £32m transfer, with the Gunners now looking for a forward before the window shuts.
