MUSICIANS often go for grand schemes to promote their new releases.
But former X Factor star Janet Devlin has taken things to a whole new level, by ignoring all of her team to go ahead and get a secret tattoo.
Janet Devlin has had fans speculating whether or not the tattoo on her inside lip is real[/caption]The 29-year-old – who competed on the eighth season of The X Factor back in 2011 – stunned fans with the cover art for her new single Daddy.
In the photo, she was seen pulling down her bottom lip, to reveal the word ‘Daddy’ inked on her inner lip.
“So the lovely people of my DMs have one question on their lips and it’s whether or not I have this on mine,” Janet began her TikTok video.
Sharing the clip which showed her having the inking done, Janet added: “Firstly, thank you to anyone who thinks my photoshop skills are as good to do that.
“I’m not that good!”
And to anyone who insisted it was “clearly fake” because it’s “wonky”, Janet laughed: “I know, I’m the proud owner of a wonky daddy tattoo on my lip!”
Explaining how she came up with the name for the single, and the idea for the tattoo, Janet said: “I wrote a song called Daddy because the internet started calling me Daddy and I was like. ‘That would be a really funny song!’
“So I wrote it, and then I was like I need single artwork for this.
“I’d already joked about getting a Daddy tattoo on my inner lip.
“So I did – against every one of my team’s objections.
“They were like, ‘Don’t do that! You don’t have to do that!'”
And concluding, Janet said: “So it’s there. It’s not fake
“As much as I’m sure most of you wish it was!”
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “I have to ask what the aftercare is for that. I love it though!”
To which Janet replied: “Can’t do anything really! Just leave it alone and brush 3 times a day.”
“I’ve got to admire your commitment,” another added.
Depending on what part of your body you choose to ink, tattoos can range significantly in terms of pain levels.
Some of the most painful areas are those where the skin tends to be thinner or closer to the bone.
Each area has specific factors which contribute to the level of pain.
Ribcage: Thin skin, little muscle, and many nerve endings.
Feet and ankles: Many bones, tendons, and nerve endings close to the surface.
Hands and fingers: Many bones, tendons, and nerve endings, resulting in increased pain during tattooing. Knuckles can be especially painful.
Spine: Proximity of the spinal cord and nerve endings makes it sensitive. Tattooing directly over the vertebrae can be especially painful.
Knees and elbows: Thin skin and little padding between the skin and the underlying bones.
Armpits and groin: High concentration of nerve endings and lymph nodes.
Neck and throat: Thin and sensitive skin, with many nerve endings and blood vessels close to the surface.

“Got told when I got my lip done it would only last 6 weeks…..it’s been 5 years +,” a third commented.
“This is so badass,” someone else praised.
“Joke tattoos are the best tattoos,” another wrote.
With Janet responding: “Agreed!”
