Nando’s waitress shares horror moment she was slapped with a PLATE by a customer in baffling row over high chair

A WAITRESS who savagely had a hot plate thrown at her head described the horror moment she was attacked.

Zahra recalled the terrifying ordeal, believed to have unfolded at a Nando’ s branch in Stratford, London.

The young woman, who was working part time at the popular chain to support herself at university, was gobsmacked after the “unprovoked” assault.

After shocking CCTV footage circulated on social media, Zahra broke her silence.

“The man’s come in with the wife, I assume, and baby, and they sat next to a new colleague,” she claimed on her TikTok account @zahra_etc.

“The new colleague didn’t give them a highchair, usually you’re supposed to ask but I think they assumed you’d just be given one.

“That’s when they got my attention because they were sat right behind me, it was the lady initially and she already seemed irritated.

“They asked me for the high chair, half way through me bringing it I realise we’re not allowed to put one there, because that’s where we run the food back and forth in that area.

“The supervisor told me we’re not allowed, so I relayed that information to the couple, and at this point the man started getting aggressive and was swearing at me saying we were ‘wasting his f***ing time and f***ing sit him somewhere else’.

“I said I’d be happy to sit them in another section and he said ‘you’re a f****ing little girl, why the f*** do you work here’.”

Zahra claimed she went to enlist the help of her manager, while the customer continued to become irate.

The manager moved them, and allowed the couple to stay in the restaurant – much to the amazement of an understandably shaken up Zahra.

A short time later the waitresses noticed their newly allocated table was cleared, and assumed they had left.

“Then I get a notification on my screen to go to a specific table, in the corner of the restaurant to run their food,” continued Zahra.

“I notice there’s two police officers already in the restaurant, and then I see the couple.

I saw on the CCTV afterwards the male police officer just let the man go without taking any of his details and the female officer was joking with the woman and playing with the baby

“As I’m putting the food down, I asked them ‘are you not using the highchair then’ because they had moved and not taken it with them.

“It was at that point the man picked up the plate and whacked me on the side of the head with it, and there was cutlery on it too.

“At this point the wife is also chasing behind me calling me a fat b**ch.”

The waitress alleged she went to the female police officer in the restaurant, who told her to speak to her male colleague.

Zahra claimed the male officer led her attacker out of Nando’s.

“I saw on the CCTV afterwards the male police officer just let the man go without taking any of his details and the female officer was joking with the woman and playing with the baby,” she alleged.

At this point Zahra’s manager intervened and called the police again.

But, the force informed her she “can’t press charges” because she would have to convince a jury of 12 that is was “an unprovoked attack” – because there was no audio on the CCTV.

The waitress filed a complaint against the two officers who handled her ordeal.

After the attention Zahra received online, the force launched an investigation into her case.

A spokesperson for Nando’s said: “This was a shocking and unprovoked attack earlier this year.

“We reported it to the police immediately and have supported our colleague since.

“We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour, the safety of our colleagues and customers is our priority.”
