EASTENDERS fans have been left extremely nervous as they are convinced that bosses will axe one of their beloved characters.
Viewers of the long-running BBC soap think that one of the residents of Albert Square is getting ‘pushed out’ after spotting a clue.
Viewers are worried that Harvey Monroe might get axed[/caption] He is known for his relationship with Jean Slater[/caption] In recent weeks he has worked extra shifts to pay Maya[/caption]The character of Harvey Monroe has been played by Ross Boatman, 60, since he made his EastEnders introduction in 2021.
He started off dating Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) but that relationship soon ended when she realized she didn’t have romantic feelings for him.
In 2022, he embarked on a relationship with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).
Their relationship became more serious over time, and he has since moved in with the rest of the Slater family.
Earlier this week, tragedy almost struck Harvey when he fell asleep in a hot car as he put in an extra shift.
He almost killed baby Charli Slater, who was in the backseat, and was told she could have died if she was left for longer.
Harvey later confessed to Jean that he had been trying to earn more money to give to Maya Houssain (Bharti Patel).
This was because his son Aaron was radicalised by right-wing extremists, and he tried to murder Maya’s husband Abdul a few years ago.
After he confessed how close he was to killing baby Charli, a horrified Maya decided it was best to cut off contact with Harvey.
Since the story has come to an end, viewers are worried that they have not seen much of the character on-screen.
They have become nervous that BBC bosses could decide to axe the character.
One viewer took to X – formerly known as Twitter – as they posted a snap of the character.
They wrote: “I wonder if an exit is coming for Harvey?”
Adding: “He feels pushed out of the Slaters and his story with Maya is ending.”
Over the years the likes of EastEnders, Emmerdale and Coronation Street have all tried to try outdo each other with their outlandish plots in a bid to keep us tuning in each week. But here are some of the darkest that had fans in shock…
Other fans of the show also echoed the statement online as they also thought that he is not seen enough on-screen.
A second user echoed: “I like him, he’s a good actor, under used in my opinion.”
While a third stated: “Totally underused, a good solid everyman character.”
“I think Harvey will leave to go live with maya and a twist somehow,” predicted someone else.
And a fifth added: “It would be a shame to lose him. I like to have ‘normal’ people in soaps. It creates balance.”
EastEnders is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
