HOLLYOAKS fan-favourite Sienna Blake got a huge shock earlier this week when she discovered the identity of her real father.
The news was revealed to her in a shocking scene on Tuesday (August 20), but soap fans were left thoroughly confused when they tuned into the next episode and the recap of what happened was completely different.
Hollyoaks bosses made a huge blunder this week as the wrong scene was inserted into the soap[/caption] Fans were left thoroughly confused when they saw a recap of a scene that never happened[/caption] Martha revealed a shocking bombsell to Sienna, but the scene didn’t happen like the recap suggests[/caption]This week on Hollyoaks, Martha (Sherrie Hewson) revealed to her granddaughter (Anna Passey) that her father is actually her uncle Jeremy (Jeremy Sheffield), not his twin brother Patrick like she always thought.
During the dramatic final moments of Tuesday’s episode, Sienna was left questioning her entire life.
It started when Martha came running into the flat, frantically looking for Jeremy.
Sienna tries to calm her grandmother and asks her to sit down, but she says “I need to find your father” and tries to head back out the door.
Sienna tries to remind her that Patrick is dead, but Martha, who is highly agitated, yells back, “Not Patrick! Jeremy!”
“But Jeremy isn’t my father…” she replies.
But Martha interjects: “He is! Jeremy is your real father, and I can prove it!”
The episode ends with the shocking proclamation and the storyline picks up again in Wednesday’s (August 21) episode.
However, the preview which recaps previous scenes and airs at the beginning of the episode left fans seriously confused as it was completely different from the scenes that actually aired on the Channel 4 soap.
In the preview, Martha is sitting on the sofa while Sienna kneels at the feet as she discovers the identity of her real father. The conversation is also much calmer, despite revealing that same bombshell news.
Fans quickly picked up on this blunder as these scenes never appeared in Tuesday’s episode.
Sharing a clip of the preview on X, formerly Twitter, one fan asked: “Am I tripping? I didn’t see this in any of the episodes this week???”
Spotting the blunder, another said: “I said exactly the same. Someone messed up there.”
“I was so confused,” added a third soap fan.
HOLLYOAKS beauty Chelsee Healey has dropped the biggest hint yet she's been axed from the soap - yet what's happening at the Channel 4 show?
Earlier this year, the Channel 4 soap was forced to address the cull of cast members.
It came after The Sun was first to report Hollyoaks bosses plan to kill off a whopping 20 cast members.
Now Chelsee, who recently took time away from her role as Goldie McQueen to give birth to her second daughter, has now made a cryptic move on X.
The Manchester lass, 36, re-posted a picture of her character crying to her page.
It came after Stephanie Waring, famed for her 28-year-long role as Cindy Cunningham, confirmed that soap bosses had axed her as part of the 20-person strong cast cull.
Another big name set to quit for good is popstar turned soap star Jamelia.
The soap’s resident hunk and TV favourite Owen Warner has also left the show amid the cuts with fans left devastated to say goodbye to his character Romeo Nightingale.
Jamie Lomas has also quit the show and will depart his Warren Fox role soon.
Haiesha Mistry famed for her role as Yasmine Maalik has also left after seven years.
Trying to explain it away, another viewer suggested: “I think re-recorded for clarity purposes, getting straight to the point with the reveal.”
However, this turned out not to be the case.
The Sun reached out to Hollyoaks bosses about the preview blunder and the soap confirmed that the wrong scene was used in the recap.
It turns out the shocking scene between Sienna and Martha had been filmed a few times from different angles, and the wrong one was used as the recap clip.
This explains why the characters are in completely different positions in recap to where they were in the previous episode.
Hollyoaks’ shocking blunder comes after the Channel 4 soap announced it would be axing 20 fan-favourite characters ahead of a one year time jump which will take effect in September.
So far, only Mercedes McQueen and Ste Hay have been confirmed to be safe from the character cull.
