WITH the right amount of money and fame you can go just about anywhere in the world.
But one podcaster, Erin Mary Smoth, has revealed the one that costs thousands of pounds and isn’t worth a penny.
Erin revealed why private member clubs aren’t all they’re cracked up to be[/caption] The exclusive club only accepts people in the creative industries[/caption]Taking to her Spotify podcast, Pour Another Glass, the British woman revealed how Soho House is essentially Butlins for those with money.
In the clip, Erin boldly stated: “Soho House is just Butlins for c***s.
“There, I said it.”
She went on to say the people that go there are just plain ‘boring’ and that she knows from first hand experience.
The woman admitted to purchasing a membership, which costs just shy of £3,000 a year to get access to all of their houses around the world which span from the UK, to Bangkok and even Mexico.
She went on to say she works with people part of private members clubs but claimed she was too ‘poor’ to afford it and perhaps was just jealous of not being able to join in anymore.
However she still wasn’t fully convinced on the group of people who hang out there.
She added: “You’re paying to sit in a place with more boring people who have no personality.
“I know that’s not all of them, don’t come for me.”
“But I know, because I did a stint in Soho House once.”
The Soho House group members are supposed to be for people who work in the creative industries for a place to come together and relax without having to worry about who is watching them.
Of course, many A-listers have been spotted around the world visiting the members club such as Meghan and Harry, the Beckhams, Taylor Swift, Margot Robbie and Kate Moss.
The hope is that people respect the rules by putting their phones away and not catching celebrities in their down time, but Erin admitted to often breaking the rule of taking photos inside.
For almost 30 years, Soho House has been the most sought-after, celebrity-heavy private members’ club in the world.
While the specific list of members is confidential and ever-changing, some well-known celebrities and influential people who have been associated with Soho House.
The website reads: “Soho House is a club for creatives. We exist to provide a home for our members to come together and belong, wherever they are in the world.”
It all began in 1995, when founder Nick Jones opened the first Soho House on London’s Greek Street above his restaurant, Cafe Boheme
It gained traction in the late Nineties as the place to see and be seen, then in 2003 it sprang to global fame after being featured in Sex And The City.
The show’s quartet — Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte — were shown sunbathing poolside at the club’s New York offshoot in the Meatpacking District, after Samantha Jones “blagged” it using another member’s name. (We’ve all been there, Sam.)
Soho House was so named, because it was situated in a Georgian house in Soho. The logo reflects the layout of that first space – three floors across three interconnecting houses.
