BUTLIN’S has long been a British staple with thousands of families enjoying holidays there each year.
However, one self-confessed “snobby” couple were not so keen on the idea and likened it to an episode of Shameless.
The family praised the rides and attractions at the resort but criticised the other visitors[/caption]Speaking on their podcast The Wentwrongs, Andrea and Aaron Wainright shared their experience at the popular family destination.
The couple explained how they were hesitant about the trip, having never visited the tourist resort before.
And when friends of the couple booked a trip for them, Aaron’s initial reaction to the suggestion was “ew,” revealing that he was “not into it at all.”
“I was just worried because I’d heard all the stories, I thought it was going to be like Shameless,” he said.
Andrea added that when she told friends and family about their plans they were skeptical about how long she’d stick out her stay.
“People told me I’d get there, walk out, and go home,” the mum-of-one explained.
Aaron revealed that “it’s no secret” they both enjoy “the finer things” in life
“We go to very nice restaurants, not all the time but when we can,” he said.
“We have the slight reputation of being a little bit snobby sometimes.”
After describing their “champagne lifestyle,” the couple explained why they were “nervous going to Butlin’s.”
Aaron said his friend who organised the trip was too easy-going when it came to accommodation.
He joked that his friend would be content in “a hotel with roaches going up the walls and a view of the motorway.”
The podcaster went on to say he was “actually pleasantly surprised” by their room in Butlin’s.
“I went with such low expectations,” Aaron told their listeners.
The beloved family resort includes a wide range of amenities and attractions for the whole family at an affordable price. These include:
“I thought it was going to be like an episode of Shameless, there was going to be people stood around w**king each other off, being sick, shooting heroin.”
The couple explained they had opted for the silver package and shared their relief that they hadn’t gone for the basic option.
“As we walked past [the basic rooms], they opened the door and the first thing I saw was a toilet, that’s not great,” Aaron recalled.
“A woman stepped out looking like she uses her t*ts to wash her knees, there’s never been any support there, poor girl.
At Center Parcs, it’s people who shop at hiking shops, Butlin’s is people who shop at Sports Direct or Primark.

“And she screamed in the house ‘Derek, you’ve left crisps out again.’
“I just thought ‘Yeah, that’s the basic [package], that’s not the good one, you don’t want to be next door to that.’”
Andrea added that the people that go to Butlin’s are “very different from the people that go to Center Parcs.”
“You find at Center Parcs, it’s people who shop at hiking shops, [Butlin’s] is people who shop at Sports Direct or Primark,” she said.
Aaron even described the Butlin’s customers as “the creatures.”
However, he clarified that there also appeared to be a mix of “normal” people at the family destination.
“I would say it was a 50/50 split, 50% normies, 50% creatures,” he said.
We felt like gods because everyone was so fat.
Andrea Wainright
“I’m talking about the people who are in mobility scooters for no other reason than they like cake.”
“No wonder everyone is so fat, we felt like gods because everyone else was so fat,” Andrea added.
Aaron went on to compare the Butlin’s patrons to the Walkers from The Walking Dead, saying if he cover himself in “jelly and custard” he could’ve “assimilated with the creatures.”
He also said that he “saw more camels on this trip than in Lanzarote,” because “the cameltoes were real.”
“Ladies, put your hooves away, seriously, no one needs to see that,” Aaron said.
“Stop spending your money on Butlin’s and go and buy yourself a decent pair of leggings,” agreed Andrea, who joked that she could “see what they had for breakfast.”
Aaron also commented on the “kebab sweat” smell he said he got from other families.
The amount of people who went to the toilet and did not wash their hands, honestly, creatures.

“It smelled like that dodgy takeaway you walk past [on a night out],” he said.
The couple also criticised the all-inclusive buffet at the holiday resort.
“It was feeding time at the zoo,” Aaron said, describing the set-up as “carnage.”
Andrea recalled seeing a man scatching his bum as he approached the buffet.
“I hate buffets not because of the food, it’s because of the people,” Aaron said.
“The amount of people who went to the toilet and did not wash their hands, honestly, creatures.”
Andrea shared her shock at the amount of “pretty women that looked a little bit normal” who didn’t wash their hands, suggesting they “should get their tubes tied.”
Aaron joked that the Butlin’s visitors probably “licked their hands clean” after using the bathroom.
Andrea also complained about a woman shouting outside their window in the middle of the night.
She probably would have spit in my face or beat me up.

While she wasn’t able to place the woman’s accent, she did label her a chav.
She said that she would’ve gone outside to confront the woman but explained that the stranger “probably would have spit in my face or beat me up.”
Despite their many complaints about the accommodation and other visitors, the couple did praise the attractions.
They said they were impressed by the rides and arcade, describing the smaller slides as perfect for their young daughter.
The family also attended a circus with what they described as an impressive stunt show.
If they wanted a freakshow, the creatures with the hoop earrings would’ve gone down quite well.

“If they wanted a freakshow, the creatures with the hoop earrings would’ve gone down quite well,” Aaron said.
“To summarise, I think it’s fair to say we love Butlin’s, no one’s judging you, your kids can be wild and feral, everyone’s having a great time,” they said.
However, they did advise anyone considering booking a trip to upgrade to the silver package.
“If you can, go up a package and don’t go to the buffet, get food shopping,” Aaron suggested.
He said that the buffet wouldn’t work even if hand sanitizer was provided as “creatures don’t like that kind of thing, it makes their skin itch.”
